The Blind Men and the Elephant is the proposition creation of Xiao Longhua. The story in this picture book comes from old Buddhist sutras. You will see four born blinds came from “Mirari”Kingdom. They were trying to comprehend an elephant only by touch. After the King Mirror got the results from the four blinds, he transformed the huge elephant into a lightweight butterfly. It was a dramatic and touching moment. The butterfly began to dance and transform kaleidoscopically and endlessly.

In 2019, I cooperated with Xiaolonghua, and designed his picture book (The Blind Men and the Elephant, Aftrer Intermission Edition) . The cover is printed by temperature activated color changing ink, in addition to that, it has a piece of paper mold toys that can interact with readers. In the following two years, we have received popular acclaim from independent bookstores of all over the world.

In May 2022, The Blind Men and the Elephant officially pubulished. I redesigned the cover for the Neverend Edition with linear gardient pattern. When you pull the book out of the covervault, the four parts of the elephant’s body will gradually turns into a butterfly. Interestingly, because of the binding inaccuracy, different book shows different image. You can find a butterfly, a changing process and elephant limbs on the cover. What you see is not always what you get, it actually coincides with the theme of the story.
